NORMAN EBENSTEIN
FORMER PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER OF
CAPITAL COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES, INC.

Norm Ebenstein: A CEO’s Life

Norman Ebenstein arrived on Oct 23rd, 1928, having been born in the city of New York. Sometime after his birth, Jeannette and Samuel Ebenstein, his parents, who raised him to be proud of his Jewish roots, moved the family to Worcester, Massachusetts. Norm was very proud of the achievements of the members of his family, as an advocate of education.

He took on the role of president for a period spanning five decades after he founded Capital Commercial Properties. From shopping centers, malls and residential properties, he has had a hand in the development of all sorts of properties. The Eden Center, which is considered to be a social and cultural mecca for individuals who pride themselves of their Vietnamese background on the East Coast, is a Virginia shopping district that Norm Ebenstein particularly took a lot of pride in. A variety of projects that will impact the lives of many people, for years into the future, were initiated by Norm. He also created a foundation geared at boosting charitable activities when serving in a number of non-profit organizations.

Before enrolling into Brown University, where he studied economics, Norm Ebenstein attended Phillips Exeter. He was a fairly popular pitcher and had a place in the varsity baseball team. He met and fell in love with Shirley Gorlick, his wife for 65 years, at the university.

Norm also got a law degree from Boston University on top of his previously acquired undergraduate degree. Throughout his life, he remained active and liked to play tennis while still taking pride in his professional success.

On 20th December 2016, at 88 years of age, Norm Ebenstein died. He was respected for his charisma, well-liked for his intelligence and deeply loved by his family after living a very full life.

He was survived by Shirley, his wife, and two kids, a son and a daughter. Norm also had a daughter-in-law and two grandkids. They will take comfort in Norm Ebenstein’s accomplishments even though they will all miss him dearly.
